Alan

The Playful One!

Alan is our orphaned alpaca who joined us in August 2021 at only 6 weeks old after his mum suddenly passed away and his previous owners had no other female alpacas to look after him. Alan settled in well with our mums and baby llamas, he loved playing around with the llamas, but we had to supply him many bottles of milk everyday. Bottle babies in camelids is a challenge, it is vital they grow up knowing they are an alpaca or llama and not thinking they are a human, as that would be very dangerous.

Thankfully Alan knows he is a camelid, and he loves nothing more than chasing and winding up with camelid friends, he is a real wind up merchant! His favourite trick is to nibble the llama’s ankles as they try and move round their field. He gets told off by the others, but he does not have a care in the world, he just moves onto his next target for winding up.

Alan unfortunately is partially sighted, being blind in one eye. But this does not slow him down, he is always up for mischief!

Alan is now part of our experience and events team, he likes to be kept busy as he gets bored very quickly, he always needs to be doing something. He is quite cheeky on walks, loves his snacks, and when he deems it to be a snack point, he can sometimes have a tantrum if he does not get his own way. He loves to keep everyone on their toes – llamas/alpaca or human!

He is a loveable cuddly character, just with a mischievous cheeky nature.
